Sidewalk Chalk
To kick off the 2017-2018 school year, for our first assignment, we did a project that involved multiple skills including tream work. We where put into groups of four and where told to creat a symbol that represented us. We then put the symbols together and made various rough drafts that combined all of us as one. In this project, as freshmen, we made new friends. At this point we barely know each other, but who knows, at the end of senior year we will make unbreakable bonds with those we had least expected. Welcome to Ecomm.
Walking into ecomm on the first full day of school, it was an unknown environment. Some where eager to make friends, others not so much. We did multiple get to know you activities and we met new people. We walked into the "Ravens nest" where the seniors eat lunch to do our activity. We numbered off into 14 groups of 4. Not knowing anyone in my group, I immediately started to feel comfortable, knowing that they shared some of the same interests as me. One of the ecomm teachers told our instructions and handed out a list of symbols and there meanings. We all drew down what we thought represented us. He told us to combine our symbols, so we made multiple rough drafts. A girl sitting across from me had a great idea, so we went with that.
We headed to the courtyard with a box of chalk. All four of us grabbed a yellow, while one outlined half, the other darkend and perfected the symbol. At the end when we where finished, the whole concrete square was filled with color. We put in effort and teamwork, making us have the best symbol. Even through it may not have looked the best, we knew that what we made that day would represent us as one, and not individually. Just one project convinced me that this would be a great year, and just one project made me feel like I belonged right where I was.
